Get MOTO

MOTO is the yield-bearing token you deposit into the Catpound vault. This page explains what MOTO is and how to acquire it.

What Is MOTO?

MOTO is the native token of the MotoSwap ecosystem on OPNet. It serves as:

  • The staking token for MotoChef (the farming protocol that generates yield)
  • A liquidity and governance token within the MotoSwap DEX

When you deposit MOTO into Catpound, the vault stakes it in MotoChef on your behalf and auto-compounds the rewards.

Where to Get MOTO

MotoSwap DEX

The primary way to acquire MOTO is through MotoSwap, the decentralized exchange on OPNet:

  1. Visit MotoSwap.
  2. Connect your OPWallet.
  3. Swap BTC or another supported token for MOTO.
  4. The MOTO will appear in your OPWallet balance.

Testnet

If you are testing on OPNet Testnet:

  • MOTO can be obtained through the MotoSwap testnet DEX
  • Check the OPNet community channels for testnet faucet links

How Much BTC Do I Need for Fees?

OPNet uses BTC for transaction fees -- there is no separate gas token. A typical vault deposit costs a few thousand satoshis in fees. Keeping 50,000 to 100,000 satoshis (0.0005 to 0.001 BTC) in your wallet should be sufficient for several transactions.

Check Your Balances

Before depositing, confirm in OPWallet that you have:

  1. The MOTO amount you want to deposit
  2. A small BTC balance for transaction fees
